News for 2012

Happy New Year to you, I hope everyone has managed to start the new year without any injuries. Some exciting things have happened at Montrose Junior Soccer Club with more to come!

Our Pitches

Last year the council completed works on a ring drain around the bottom pitch, this should help eleviate up to 40% of the surface water on the pitch, this means that we should be able to play alot more of our home games at montrose. Also work is being done on the top pitch to bring  it up to scratch to FFV standards.

Montrose Kids play at Heart vs Victory derby

Last year 10 of our juniors went to AAMI park and played a SSG on the field at half time, this was the derby game between meb heart and victory with over 26,000 people at the game. Also having completed a survey form through the FFV our club won a pack of 10 balls, cones, bibs, ball bag etc.

Goals for Grassroots

This year i got a call from the goals for grassroots people announcing that we had won this comp as well, and that FOX SPORTS will come out to MONTROSE and do a segment about our club.
This is happening next TUESDAY 10th January 5.30pm.It would be great for us to get as many kids down to the club as possible, as this is your chance to be on TV and show Australia what a great club we are. If you havent signed up for next year that is fine,  i will make sure i bring down some renewal forms just in case.
This prize means that our club is garaunteed a minimum of $1000 and if melb heart score more goals we get $1000 for each goal up to $5000. This will be the next derby game between heart and victory on feb 4th so a great game to go and see.

Registration day

Our next official registration day is Sunday FEB 12TH. 10am -2pm Balance of pre christmas subs are required at this time.

Towards 2015 December 2011 update

The second year of our five year project is coming to a close and although we are yet to see any vast improvements to our home we have well and truly put the foundations in place and (hopefully) we’ll start to see some results of our hard work very soon.

MONTROSE'S BEST GALA DAY EVER!!!

By far the best gala day of the season was ours. Thankfully the rain stayed away, and the pitches were reasonable except for the SWAMP on the bottom pitch which despite being signposted almost swallowed up a few kids. Being our home gala day the pressure was on for the players to perform under the watchful eyes of the senior Monty’s, with all the training the players performed brilliantly, many goals were scored, tackles made and even a few passes here and there. It’s also very encouraging to hear feedback from parents at other clubs that the Montrose players are doing so well!  Congratulations to the Mighty Montrose teams, all players had a terrific day. As always our coaches are brilliant, thanks to Racheal, James (the branded one), Doug, Ron, Tony, Matt and Simon. It was great to see other Montrose coaches and players from the older age groups down supporting the players.

A day like this takes a massive amount of effort to put together. The support of the Montrose family made light work of it ensuring the day ran smoothly and was enjoyable for all. On behalf of the gala day players and parents, THANK YOU!

The biggest thankyou is to Louise Andrews who organised canteen and BBQ, cleaned the clubrooms, and spent many hours bundling the Monty packs, plus many more little things. Thanks Lou. Also a big thanks to Alex and Zoe. A little thanks to Marty Andrews who pushed a wheel barrow around for a few minutes and filled a few holes. Thanks also to Carli Clark who did the running around all day Friday and helped out.

Thanks to members of the senior club for helping on the BBQ and in the car park – Debbie, Roz, Emma, Al, Eddie, Evan, Chris, Paul, Nathan, Ross, Brushy, Anthony, Sean, Rohan and Bozza. Thanks to Matt Cathie and Kevin Ide for helping out, and Sacha Sullivan for donating a raffle prize.

A day like this makes me very proud of our club, as a junior club we’ve come so far in just a few years.

Towards 2015 Update June 2011

The Clubrooms Phase one of the project to deliver additional change rooms and a bigger storage area is well underway with the Yarra Ranges Council submitting a proposal earlier this month for a $100,000 grant from the State Governments “Strengthening the World Game” programme. This funding will be added to the $100,000 already set aside by the YR council plus our own significant contribution of $75,000 towards Phase one. We should here whether our submission has been successful by early September with work expected to complete by end of June 2012. In the coming weeks we will be sitting down with the YR council to agree on a design for the Phase one work.

The Pitches Above average rain has meant that both pitches are unplayable more than they have been in recent seasons so work to improve the drainage is imperative. Work to install a ring-drain around the ‘bottom’ pitch is expected to commence in the next couple of weeks once we get a decent break in the weather. We are hoping that this will improvethe drainage on that pitch by 40-50%. The YR council is also looking at allocating funding in the 2011/012 budget to also improve the drainage on the top pitch so this is welcomed news. The club will be insisting that this work delivers a long term solution and not just a quick fix.

Other news The club recently received a $2,000 grant from Vic Health and the funds have been used to purchase junior goals plus a 6m x 3m MSC branded marquee for use at Junior gala days and senior match days. The Towards 2015 project is rapidly gaining momentum and we as a club need to keep focused on the end goal. If you have any ideas for improvements around the club, big or small, or you would like to know what the project will deliver please come and talk to me.
