Towards 2015 January 2012 update

2012 is the third year of our five year strategic plan to improve the facilities at Keith Hume Fraser Reserve and we are finally starting to see the results of our hard work.

A ring drain has been installed around the bottom pitch which should see drainage improve by around 30-40% on that pitch. The council has also agreed to top dress and re-seed the top pitch prior to the season commencing.

Longer term the council have said that the top pitch will be completely renovated and the bottom pitch will have lateral drainage channels installed at the end of 2012 subject to the approval of council funding in next years (2012/2013) budget. This is a fantastic result for us as this work was initially scheduled for 2018 prior to the start of our “T2015” project.

Our application for funding under the State Government’s “Strengthening the World Game” program has been submitted. Fingers crossed. This time we have received letters of support from State MP’s David Hodgett and James Merlino plus a letter from Federal MP Tony Smith so hopefully they will add extra weight to our application. If successful this phase of the project will deliver us much needed extra change rooms plus extra storage room. The council has committed $250,000 (if the grant application is successful) plus we will be contributing $50,000 bringing the total cost of this phase of the project to around $400,000.

As a club we need to keep focused on the end goal. If you have any ideas for improvements around the place, big or small, or you would like to know what the project will deliver please come and talk to me.

Volunteers

During the season all parents will be asked to help out on game day tasks such as setting up and packing up the ground goals and markers, manning the BBQ or canteen, running the line (holding up a flag when the ball crosses the boundary), washing shirts and supplying team oranges. By parents helping out ensures that coaches can concentrate on the kids.
